There was something of a massive shock in store for all of us today! You know how there’s been a serial rapist who seems to have been following behind the LAGOON and targeting sophonts with a really hard to predict pattern? Well – as it turns out, the serial rapist has been unmasked! And this information and evidence was sent directly to us, in order to make sure that we were aware of what happened. And to make sure the information wasn’t vanished.

You see – the serial rapist that’s been plaguing places for months now… has been a member of the LAGOON all along. Not someone pretending to have LAGOON affiliations like the Duce told us when we asked, no. But a member of Riptide. One of their special elites – you may have heard of him by the name Yonah McCrae. And now the pattern falls into place, because – his targets, his victims, have all been folk who trusted that Riptide uniform. That took one look at him and realized he was Riptide and believed what all of us did. That Riptide was highly vetted, that they were trustworthy, that they were looking out for everyone who wasn’t one of theirs no matter what.

Turns out that’s not the case at all.

Because the Duce tried to hide this information! He told the one who found it out to pin the blame on someone else, I have the recording right here! I bet he didn’t even think to do a scan on the cadet – you heard right, it was a cadet who managed to put all of this together and tried to take the reports to the Duce. And I’m going to play them right here and right now for you all!

The Duce: “Ah, Cadet Yilmaz – I have to admit that you’re not one of the ones I usually expect to ask for a direct meeting with me. Has GUARDHOUND found something interesting perhaps?” papers shuffle like they’re being moved around, but that sound vanishes under the heavy sound of Yilmaz’s boots as he makes his way actoss the room.

A folder is slammed down onto the Duce’s deck, the sound behind the force echoing through the room for quite some time before settling back down. “I found the rapist.” The words are quickly delivered, carried on a low snarl of what sounds a lot like anger. “It’s Yonah McCrae, member of Riptide.”

There isn’t even a pause before the Duce speaks. Just an immediate “You’ll have to find someone else. That answer is unacceptable.” Paper slides against the desk, being pushed away. “Frame whoever you like, but Yonah cannot be the culprit.”

“Sir! I have evidence-”

“Then doctor it. I don’t care who you frame, but find a scapegoat and do it now. Riptide cannot be known to have harbored anyone like that within its ranks. The public would lose faith in us. I will not have it.” A beat of heavy silence. ” Obey me in this, and I will ensure that you pass your upcoming exam with honors. You’ll finally make Riptide, no matter your actions on the field. That said, if you push this issue Yilmaz, I will have you exiled. I will leave you with no roof over your head and a dishonorable discharge. Are we clear?”

“…Transparent.”

As you can see – the Duce likely knew who the serial rapist was all along, and Yilmaz bringing the issue to light has led to what’s going on now. But! Yilmaz did not let things go – he found alternative ways to make sure that McCrae’s crimes would be known  and that the man’s victims will be able to rest at least a little easier. One of the places Yilmaz sent the evidence and recordings is here, to the Lodestar, knowing our reach and our ability to make sure that this fact grows far beyond where the Duce has his fingers. The universe will know!

…That said, we’ve not recieved any communications from Yilmaz since his delivery of the copies of evidence and proof. No one here at the Lodestar has gotten a response from him either. Local news near where the LAGOON was stationed last says that McCrae shot multiple people while being detained by the ENP, and that he had shot at least four others before they got there. But nothing beyond that – it’s as if the Duce and the other corrupt individuals in that area are locking down the knowledge and the news.

So at the moment, we have no idea if Yilmaz is alive or dead…

Endless_Omen: ye. he’s been banned now – the evidence is real ironclad, and it’s not like he’s gonna have access where he’s going. still, it’s not the most comfortable of feelings to know that you’ve talked to someone with statistics like his. or… other things.
GaZeLLe: I don’t doubt it. Are you okay? I’m going to send a contact of mine to check up on where I last knew Yil to be – I don’t like that it seems like he’s vanished without a trace, even less now that I’ve heard that audio file.
Shatterheart: I already sent a team to look. They found nothing. A few questionable trace chemicals, however. I will dm you the file, GaZeLLe.
GaZelle: ‘preciate it, Shatterheart. Omen, you know my DMS are open if you need ’em. Same goes for anyone else. I know I’m mostly a street doc but my second in charge has therapy training and will probably be okay with stepping in to help.
